In Cap's crushing grip, Flag-Smasher triggers a bomb, choosing suicide over surrender, as Steve Rogers throws himself over the hostage. It's a razor-edged moment from "The Bombs Bursting in Air," with a dying Captain America's Super-Soldier Serum failing and his new armor turning his last stand into a literal blaze of glory. Ink over graphite on Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 10.25" x 15.25". Missing text paste-ups in Panel 3 ("Mylex Shroud."), Panel 5 ("An explosive device in his belt."), Panel 6 ("Cover your ears, kid -- "), and the final panel (" -- I think this idiot's serious!!!"). The page also exhibits light glue residue staining throughout image areas, text paste-ups with minor wear to whiteout on the reverse, edge/corner creasing, tape over page number paste-up, and minor handling wear. Personalized by Bulanadi in the lower margin and was purchased at Heritage Auctions.
