Kikomachine Komix - I am the Alpha. I am the Omega. Intellectual Health Activity Strip!

The Friday preshow at OAX this year was fantastic! It was like getting to look at all of the presents under the tree before you are allowed to open them! Well, you can technically open a few, but then you have to go drinking with some guy that looks like Santa Claus on a Bub Crawl! :) I knew that Manix was bringing these strips and decided to make it a priority stop before the preview ended.

As with all things Manix, I was quick to realize the heart and soul that he put into these pages. They are also a great look into his sense of humor and approach to life. This page specifically in regards to existential humor. “Connect the dot to itself in another dimension. Good Luck!” says it all! The hand lettering here is top notch and reminds why it looks so good in all of those finished commissions. We also get a wonderful look at his process with those tiny pencil notes.

I have always thought that Manix is one of the most consistent artists out there and that is evident with every piece that he does, large or small. It was a sincere pleasure to speak him with at OAX and learn a little more about Kikomachine Komix. There is an omnibus out now that collects the first three books, but I have had trouble getting my greasy mitts on it.
