Was it JP Leon or your idea to have these heavy inks for this series?  It is so different of an atmosphere than how the Alex Ross covers presented Earth X.

John Paul had already been working like this for years. His pencils called for it also when I inked him on Challengers of the Unknown before this, and with Shawn Martinbrough inking him before me.
Alex Ross had seen that work when we lived near each other and he was so taken by it that he asked me, and I think John afterwards, to do the series with John.
At the time he felt that if he only worked in ink, that this look was similar to what he would do himself.
