Description
Is it a bad thing to buy an original art page because of the writer? I ask this in the way of "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?"

First, let me stress there is absolutely no secondary reason needed to buy art by exemplary Eduardo Barreto. In fact, EB might just be the most represented artist in my original art collection (though I've posted none but this one on CAF.)

However, despite the art being created by Barreto, I bought this page to have an original art page with dialogue/story by the legendary Christopher Priest. And while I was at it, I figured that since I already have a couple of Green Lantern pages written by Priest, why not go for something more personal to the man, like something from a creator-owned series of his?

So along comes this page, with some wonderful Eduardo-esque drawing and exciting layouts, plenty of crackling Priest-ian dialogue, and a slab of Priest's exposition. Not to mention it is inked by Eduardo's son, Diego, and I'm a sucker for father-son bonuses like that.

Welcome to the collection Xero. Rest assured that I think you're way more than a zero.

As good a reason as any. I dare say I have bought pages at least partly because they are from comics written by Steve Gerber. The framing of the last panel is really nice, crowding the figures out and making the action more personal.

Thanks for the moral support. Sometimes I think I get a too esoteric about choosing why to acquire a page, and cross the line from interesting hobby to slightly deranged.

Nice to see you have a writer that sometimes guides your art collecting. Nice to have a co-conspirator with me in this line of thinking.
