Scott Hampton, Nude Woman Rescues Bound Male Hero (from Penthouse Comix)

The usual trope of the macho hero rescuing a bound naked woman gets turned on its head here! Two police officers investigate an all-female nudist colony that appears to be the common link in a series of mutilation-murders. The female officer, of course, reluctantly goes undercover. The two find a cult, orgiastic rituals, and a dark god beneath it all.

I love a lot about this page. The trope reversal; the palette; the strange angles of the cultists’ escape route and how they mirror the cross the man is on. All contribute to the shaky, off-kilter feeling of the page before the rocks even start to fall.
