Many years ago, a friend who had been important at BD Fox showed me some Polaroid copies of the agency’s work. Among them was an early concept for the Tim Burton film. The comp was put together using drawings by a young in-house sketch artist. I told her “Wow, you have to introduce me to the guy who drew this.” And it turned out it had been a young Mike, taking his first steps in the film industry. In the additional images you can see (in terrible quality, sorry) how the concept looked like, which uses the drawing you see here with some altered elements around.
