Description
Walt Louderback is an overlooked and under appreciated artist. His stylized technique rooted in a deep knowledge of academic art is quite similar to Dean Cornwell. They both worked for Cosmopolitan Magazine and may have been friends. Cornwell was a student of Harvey Dunn who was in turn a student of the father of American Illustration: Howard Pyle. Clearly Louderback absorbed the Dunn- Pyle influence. Louderback was a teacher as well and taught at the Art Institue of Chicago. John Clymer was influenced by Louderback. This is an early example of his own experimental cubist- like work done in Europe. - Unframed
