This charming original illustration by Disney Legend Hank Porter features Donald Duck and his nephews-Huey, Dewey, and Louie-saluting a proud Boy Scout. Rendered in ink and gouache on 13" x 15" paper, the artwork is a delightful tribute to the spirit of scouting and service. It is dedicated to Dr. James E. West, the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, and bears a signature reading "Sincerely Walt Disney," authentically penned by Hank Porter-one of the few artists authorized to replicate Walt's signature. Dr. James E. West (1876-1948) was a tireless advocate for youth, instrumental in securing the BSA's national charter in 1916, and a key supporter of the Order of the Arrow. Porter, a pivotal Disney artist, joined the studio in 1936 and became a prolific contributor during World War II, designing over a thousand insignias for the U.S. military and government agencies. Framed to 19" x 21", this piece was part of an installation at the Medici Museum of Art in Warren, Ohio. It was offered from the BSA Settlement Trust's collection, with proceeds benefiting survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is an exceptional piece of Disney and Scouting history with outstanding provenance. - The museum did an exhibit loaned by the Rockerfeller family of forty Boy Scout paintings by Norman Rockwell with some of his work also benefiting the Boy Scout Settlement.
