Osprey Elite #9: The Normans; Plate #1 Early Normandy - Bishop, miles and Flemish serjeant (1987)

An absolutely fanastic McBride plate from one of my favourite of the Osprey Elie seies; The Normans!

Who knows why Bishop Odo of Bayeaux is so furious with this miles (a knight), but the character details are fabulous; the poke with his crozier, the scar on the red-headed knight's cheek, his broken nose, the mud and puddles, sun breaking through an overcast Northern Normandy sky. Wonderful stuff, and so expertly rendered in watercolour and gouache. A perfect piece with which to end my McBride quest.
