Description

Jeremy Bastian's "Cursed Pirate Girl" art sets a modern standard for whimsical detail. The first time I saw Carlos Dearmas' creative and finely lined work, I immediately wondered what he would do with Bastian's character designs. Dearmas wasn't familiar with Bastian's series, so I sent him a copy of the collected-to-date work, let him stew on it for a while, and then see what spoke to him about it. He responded with this delightful montage of creatures and characters in good Hayao Miyazaki-meets-Lewis Carroll-meets-Albrecht Durer form.

Tremendous work from Dearmas! Clearly he got inspired AF from Bastian's work once you made him familiar with it. Just awesome. congrats on the commission result.
