For my third and final cover piece for the show, I had to return to one of my all-time favorite characters in pop culture: Hellboy. There’s something endlessly compelling about this version of the character — a walking contradiction of brute strength, ancient folklore, buried sadness, and pure defiant attitude. Every time I draw him, it feels less like illustrating a superhero and more like capturing a creature caught between myth and apocalypse.
With this 11x17 original, I wanted the image to feel like a lost supernatural film poster from another era — smoke-filled shadows, ancient warnings, and that eerie stillness right before disaster strikes. Hellboy standing at the edge of the unknown, the weight of prophecy hanging over him while darkness quietly closes in from every direction. And somewhere beside him, the ever-loyal Abe Sapien — one of the greatest and most visually fascinating side characters ever created.
