I bought the first six issues before I moved out of the country and couldn't get any more. It's fun to see a taste of what happened next.
Another fun series in the 80's. Great example!
Here to help or here to take away tax revenue annual budget dollars from the Fire Department!? ;-p - nice Elementals page, she can clearly stand the rain.
I can't stand the rain 'gainst my window
Bringing back sweet memories
I can't stand the rain 'gainst my window
'Cause he's not here with me
Hey window pain do you remember
How sweet it used to be
great page, the rain effects are always fun to see how each artist handles it
They may have lost their home but at least their mail will still be delivered on time.
Blame it on the rain! Vindicator and She-Hulk have new powers over at Comico!
That firefighter seems pretty ungrateful. Did he really want to climb all those stairs!?
Great Elementals addition, Rick!
Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know! it's been comin' for some time
When it's over, so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know! Shinin' down like water
I want to know,
have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know,
have you ever seen the rain?
Comin' down on a sunny day.
Brother Rick, congratulations on a very cool page from another one of my nostalgic favorites! That's a great shot of Vortex and Fathom in the first panel!
I bought every issue of Elementals from my local comic book store back in the day and enjoyed the stories and Bill Willingham's art.
The 80s were a magical time for indies. Yes, there was a lot of (shall we say) "not so great" stuff. But it was great that there were so many venues for creators to get their work seen without relying on the Big Two. Nice page from a fun book.
Well, since Ruben left two comments on this page and stole my Creedence reference before I could finish posting my comment, I'll leave another comment as well!
My copy of Elementals # 7 has a coloring gaffe and all I can see in those bottom panels is PURPLE RAIN!
Actually, I left one reply and one comment. You're just jealous I thought of the CCR song before you did and went ahead with your comment anyway, to pretend you hadn't already seen mine. You're such a Copycat, Jim!
LOL, I'm not sure you thought of the Creedence reference first, your comment was not there when I started typing my comment; I'm just a slower typer than you are! :)
Irregardless, it's a fun page and our multiple comments will ptobably help it get spotlighted in an upcoming daily CAF Premium art e-mail! :)
So now, no more Raindrops keep falling on my head!
are you trying to get kicked out of CAF? Nice page ,btw!
Willingham in Golden was such fun.
Congrats Rick! This is one of the best pages, and best sequence in the first story arc! Very happy for you!
Great Elementals page, Rick! A really fun example from a time where I think Willingham's art was really blooming and coming into its own... The Byrne influence on Bill was always an easy connection to make (the layout / execution of panels 2, 3, and 4 feel especially Byrne to me!), but I think here, bolstered by the success of Elementals and the routine of putting out a monthly book, Bill's own individual style is starting to gel and poke through (especially in those bottom two panels). A great feather in the cap to add a Willingham Elementals page - Congrats, Rick!
Ronald Reagan said it best: "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Elementals, and I'm here to help."
Fantastic Willingham page from one of the best series of the 80s. The art and the color on these beauties made them stand out on the stands and you couldn't resist their pull. Congrats!
Congrats Rick! I used to own this page and sold it on one of the Comic Art Lives a few years ago. The bottom panels of the rain look so much better in b&w than the colored page. Glad this page found a good home!
Such a cool Willingham Elementals page, congrats!
Beautiful pièce / love it !!!
That's a lot of fun. I love the rain effects in the fourth panel.
Cool page (in moe ways tan one). Bill must be insanely jealous!
