Wolverine by Juan Jose Ryp

The Krakoan Age had the best X-Men comics we had gotten since the Morrison run ended 15 years earlier.  The last third admittedly was a little diminished from the Hickman-helmed highs, but one of the real highlights of the post-Hickman 3rd act was the 14-issue run of Wolverine with the great Juan Jose Ryp.  

Unfortunately for us Ryp-heads who are also OA collectors, all of that work was done digitally.  Juanjo also does not typically take on commissions outside of convention appearances (believe me i've been asking!).  So, when there was an opportunity for sketches in a recent Kickstarter for an indie comic that featured his work, I absolutely leapt at the opportunity.  

The sketch, as you see, came out beautifully!  I was excited that he elected for a claws-out, leaping towards the viewer angle.  The image feels very reminiscent of the Krakoan-era Ben Percy / Juanjo Ryp run that I love.  My long-term hope is to be able to bring this to him at a convention here in the US for him to ink it as well!
