Description

I only became familiar with McLoughlin's work because I picked up Book Palace's The Art of ...by David Ashford. He worked for Boardman Books for years on covers and comic stories. I particularly love his covers for their series of crime/ mystery novels. You can find a lot of info on his at Wiki and the web. In the late '60s he came to work at IPC, one of the purveyors of weekly comic magazines for children. IPC would absorb a failing weekly title's best features into a more successful one and I've included those in paranthesis the 2nd title is one the cover but not the indicia. Information on older British titles is very incomplete so I'm going by what is written on the page.  The net says that Saber was a white kid born in the depths of the African jungle, a bit like a blonde Tarzan & he;s able to command pretty much any form of wildlife by whistling at it. And apparently some dinosaurs showed at some point. I've never read any of these before and I don't know of a collection but I just love the art.

Much better rendering than a typical jungle comic, then or now.
