Here it is, one of the most iconic Marvel comic book covers of all time featuring the first appearance of Canada’s own Wolverine! My tiribute to the original by Herb Trimpe (pencils), John Romita (Hulk head redo) and inker Jack Abel from 1972. Pencil, sable brushes, technical pens (the hand drawn lettering) and India ink on 11.5” x 17” aged Bristol board with reproduction stats, rubber cement staining, editorial notations and more. The original art for this cover was destroyed when writer and Wolvie co-creator Len Wein’s house burnd in a California wildfire - so this is likley the most accurate recreation version of the cover in existance.
As with all my other recreations this was created by hand with methods as close as possible to how the original was made including in this case using vintage 1970s mechanical pencil and leads, and new old stock 1970s Higgins Black Magic ink. Multiple levels of anti-fraud measures are incorporated into the work as well to deter it from being used in any sort of nefarious way. See my website's Recreation page’s FAQ for more info.
