An absolute classic comic book ad for all 1970s kids like me is the focus of this tribute. Running in Marvel, DC, Gold Key and other titles in the mid-70s this action figure ad touted the most popular licensed figure toy of all time up until the release of Kenner's Star Wars action figures in 1978. I couldn't find evidence of the original art for this ad, so I used a extant Bionic Woman action figure ad as a guide for the registration and editorial markings, including alternate letters that identified which company's book the ads were running in for the fan club coupon. Original artist unknown.
Made on 12" x 18" aged illustration board with vintage india ink, sable brush, dip pen, rubber cement and love. And as always it includes 5 layers of anti-fraud features to prevent misidentification or misuse.
