"What we talk about when we talk about family," is the third page of the third story in the 2017 annual edition of DC's New Talent Showcase, highlighting the talents of Siya Oum and featuring Count Vertigo as the antagonist to Dick Grayson / Nightwing.

Count Vertigo aka Werner Zytle is a disgraced European royal who uses a machine in his ear to create the dizzying "vertigo effect," seen here instilling our hero with nausea —before catching an Escrima Stick upside the head.

Count Vertigo vacillates between villain and anti-hero status, having first appeared in the pages of Green Arrow and later working with Amanda Waller in her post-SuicudeSquad, Checkmate intelligence agency, with interstitial stints in the Secret Society of Supervillains and other nefarious organizations. His powers derive from cybernetic enhancement and include the ability to hypnotize and create illusions, making him the DC version of Mysterio but with a dada-esque design aesthetic.There are only a handful of splashpages that prominently feature him, and this is possibly the best. Bonus to me that it's by Siya Oum, whose YouTube Channel is informative and entertainment.

I have one set for "Vertigo" since a major subset of what I collect bears the DC Vertigo imprint. Otherwise I'd never have been aware of this page, which suits my affinity for Nightwing splash pages from a certain era.
