very cool splash matt, congrats
Definitely a showcase of Oum's talents! From her debut with Lola XOXO to the many pieces since, she definitely deserves more recognition still!
I only know this guy because when I first entered the hobby in 1982, I went hog wild on the then new "4-issue mini-series" format and this guy appeared in the Green Arrow mini, which I really enjoyed. This is a perfect example to show people what I mean when I say that you absolutely CAN feel nostalgia from contemporary art, in spite of never having seen, much less read, the comic the art is from!
Love the style, but honeslty can't follow the storytelling here. Siya is fantastic though and this piece is a lot of fun. Congrats.
The sequence of the action is a bit easier to follow in the printed page via the script.
As I wnat back and looked at it a bit deeper it occurred to me that there's a Howard Cahykin influence here —not just in the layout (which has a very Cody Starbuck feel), but also American Flagg in that sequencing.
I honestly don't know if that Chaykin reference is correct..but if you ever meet the writer again, ask her if he is an influence.
That's so amazing and cool! huge congrats!
Cool looking Nightwing splash by Siya! The nitpicker in me (not that you couldn't alter it with an overlay) would love to have that circular bullseye pattern that's in the background of the published page on the art board, would flesh out that negative space even more but a minor nitpick and it's still great as is.
