I am very lucky to have parents who have always supported my love of comics. They organized a childhood birthday party where my friends were assigned superhero names. They drove me to comic shops across rural WV and waited as I dug through boxes. They supported my elementary social studies fair project on the economics of comic books.
And recently, they have been willing to be flown from MI to HeroesCon to see my adult comic passion. My dad has come for the past 3 years (he willingly came back twice), and my mom made 2026 her first comic con!
I had set up a commission with Dan since I wanted a Riverdale Rhino to join my Springfield Rhino. I wondered if he would like to put Archie in a Rhino suit, but he wanted to draw Rhino himself. He must’ve had fun because he gave me a full body instead of the 3/4 we had discussed!
It was so special to hear my mom talk with him about the Archie comics she read at her summer camp. “Oh, I like this one a lot,” she said as she flipped to it in my portfolio.
It is also fun to see the pencil sketch on the back. I see Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Josie, Sabrina, and (?) Reggie running after some coin. It looks like this is a rough for the Archie: The Decision Deluxe Edition cover.
Completed at HeroesCon 2026.
