Description

This is a cover from a romance novel. The artist, Barnett Plotkin (1931-2003) had a wide-ranging career ranging from this kind of romance work to a prominent role in the Air Force Art Collection. The main connection between this and comic art or CAF is that I purchased it from Graphic Collectibles, a regular advertiser at CAF.

This scan is by Mitch Itkowitz, GC's owner. The piece is huge. The bride is 16 inches tall. This is virtually a direct opposite version of female beauty from that usually depicted in comic art sites. This was for the cover of The Brass Ring. by Susan Crouse, number 264 of the Loveswept series. As near as I can tell, (and, no, I haven't read the book, and I never will), no wedding takes place in the novel.

Unfortunately I can't identify the published source, but I had to be the first to comment that this is an absolutely fabulous painting!
