Description

John Romita has stated in many an interview, that his crowning achievement was to get a strip published in the NEW YORK TIMES. The Times does not carry comics, so this was a special moment, and this is the strip that made it. Five years before the still syndicated Spider-Man strip even began, this was published as a satirical statement about the upcoming Presidential election. In addition to Spider-Man, there are shots of political hopefuls and celebrities: NIXON; MUSKIE; HUMPHREY; TED KENNEDY; DICK CAVETT; NEW YORK'S MAYOR LINDSEY; WALLACE; MCGOVERN; SHIRLEY CHISHOLM; J. JONAH JAMESON; AND MARY JANE WATSON.
