As if it weren't bad enough that she would soon be told that she is not even making the right kind of pies, poor Snow White drops what was undoubtedly a perfectly good Gooseberry Pie when some old hag pops up at her window -- but who can blame her. The drawings from this scene are, in my opinion, BY FAR the most interesting and expressive of all the drawings of the character.

But, ironically, the scenes of drawings, including all the extremes, probably never made it back to their places in the Disney animation morgue, where they had been stored for decades. They found their way out of the studio through less legitimate means.
During the time that Cochran and Hamilton were at the studio pulling drawings, two other individuals were also in the studio due to certain connections, and they were taking drawings out in various ways. Some of these drawings were secured under pant legs with rubber bands -- the distinctive signs of sheets of paper which have been rolled up and partially crushed help identify some of the drawings. To my knowledge, there weren't that many drawings that were taken, but those that were are among the best drawings that have ever been on the market, including extreme drawings of Snow White, the Queen, Chernabog from Fantasia, and Jiminey Cricket. I'm not certain, but this drawing of Snow White may have been one of the drawings which went through the hands of the two guys, who were only invoved in dealing in animation drawings for a short time and who sold this drawing to a good friend of mine. I eventually bought it from him. They also dealt with one of the San Fernando Valley boys who dealt in animation art. The least prominent of those dealers contacted me about what he described as the best drawing of the Devil from Night on Bald Mountain. We were both going to attend some function at the Motion Picture Academy, so he brought the drawing and I brought my check book. It was rather bizarre completing the deal on Wilshire Boulevard, at night, under a street lamp -- I was afraid that the police would see us and thinking we were involved in a drug deal. But I bought the drawing for $1,000, the highest I had paid for any drawing up to that time. And he didn't exaggerate the quality of the drawing. It was an animator's extreme in a very dramatic pose, Chernabog with his arms spread above him. I have never seen a drawing of the character that I considered to be better. But there were two from a different scene that I considered rivals for being the best. Continued...
