Description

Wendy has told Peter that she wants to give him a kiss. He unknowingly holds out his hand to take it and not wishing him to feel ignorant, (which he is) she offers him the thimble which she has used to sew his shadow back on. He exchanges this "kiss" for an acorn. These objects are highlighted in the artwork as symbols of male and female. Such symbols permeate this work. Peter then relates to Wendy the story of how faeries helped him run away shortly after he was born, and how a faerie is born when a baby laughs for the first time, and how a faeries dies every time a child no longer believes....
