Painted soon after Hunt began to winter in Hastings. One of three in series: a single fisherboy, formerly in John Witt's Collection; this one with two fisherboys, and the third, with three fisherboys, which is still in Arundel Castle, Duke of Norfolk's collection. A version of the latter, with only two fisherboys, somewhat later, and called "Young Salts," is in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight, England.
