Description

This quote came from the very first volume of Modern Masters featuring a great interview with Alan Davis. Still one of my favorite interviews from the series. I could probably find dozens of great quotes from this book. Make sure to check it out if you ever get the chance!

We all swipe, even unintentionally. The honest call it a homage or an influence.

I'll just say this. Whenever you see an artist draw like another artist who came before him, it's no accident.

Sometimes artists are told to draw like other artists. All the Kirby clones for example or the Image style, etc, etc. Theres a famous 2000ad comic character called Judge Dredd, whose look was created by Carlos Ezquerra. Ironically, one of my favourite artists Mike Mc Maahon was told to ape Carlos' style when he started drawing it.
