Description

I had JRJR draw this Hobbie piece for me when I met him way back in 1987. Figured since he created the visuals for the character, it'd be perfect for him to draw. I wasn't terribly happy with the drawing when he handed it to me - it looked to me like it'd been drawn with a crayon by a 5-year old. I ran to Sam De La Rosa's table and begged him to try and "save" it. He stared at it and thought for a long time, and finally said "I think I can do something with it." His great ink job was the only thing that kept me from throwing it away, to be perfectly honest. Over the years I've grown to like JRJR's art a lot more (can't think of a better storyteller out there now), but that initial dislike of the drawing always nagged at me. I decided to clear out some of my artwork a couple of years ago and figured I should let someone who'd have more appreciation for the piece add it to their collection. Hopefully Hobbie's in a good home now! Pencil and ink on 9x12 drawing paper.
