DescriptionThis is a view showing how the package is actually physically ripped in half. this is masonite, 2 sheets. This is really masonite, at least the only kind i have ever seen and with over 2500 packages recieved, i am familiar with most of the shipping methods. This was a well packed piece of art from a reputable dealer.Social/Sharing |

That is unbelievably tragic, so sorry to hear about and see this. But although this material might be what you have been told is masonite, it is definitely not masonite. Masonite snaps into more jagged shards, and would not "tear" in layers as this did. It's impossible to say what this really is with absolute certainty without seeing it in person, but this is definitely a much cheaper material closer to "compressed" board.

Wow. Masonite no less. What's the alternative -- plywood???

I've had damaged packages of a similar nature before. Often it's due to insufficient padding within the package but this one is just very very POOR handling. However, it's definitely NOT masonite. It looks like the art was just sandwiched between two thick-ish pieces of cardboard. If it's insured, you can make a claim easily. The art looks crushed but at least it's not torn. You might be able to repair it. Sorry to see this!

Yeah, it doesn't look like masonite to me either. But that's not the point. This is just flat out irresponsible handling by the carrier(s). I've got two separate art packages coming from across the country and I have to tell you, these pictures are making me VERY nervous! No wonder I always hold my breath until the art is in my hands! Sheesh! Sorry Jeff, best of luck with all your future packages!
