Description

One of a few pages I acquired from Randy during one of his trips back to the US. Randy only had art from the 2nd installment. Read below to find out why...

There were 2 Black Canary storylines in Action Comics Weekly. According to Randy, he was originally promised to be able to pencil and ink. However, Pablo Marcos had an exclusive contract with DC, so DC had to give him work. So Marcos inked DuBurke's pencils for both storylines. DuBurke then re-inked the job for the 2nd storyline. If you look at both installments, you will notice significant stylistic differences. Hey, that's the comics biz for ya.

Action was being published weekly. Each weekly installment was 7 pages. Doing the math, that's 28 pages a month, which is actually more pages than a regular monthly book. And Randy had to pencil one installment while inking the previous installment. Ugh.

Black Canary was created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino.

Fantastic page. Amazing how much movement DeBurke put into this otherwise quiet scene.
