This is another one of those pieces that I just kept missing out on whenever it was up for sale. When I saw it again on ebay recently, I didn’t take any chances. There was no buy-it-now, but I gave it my best shot and ended up winning the auction. Call it fate, dumb luck, whatever you want. It’s mine now! =)
Anyway, I always thought that Mark Bright did a pretty great job of following in the footsteps of Romita Jr., Layton, and Guice on the IRON MAN title. Stylistically, he was distinctive enough to leave his own mark on the character, but similar enough to please all the Romita, Layton, and Guice fans. This splash (page 30) from issue #274 is a great example!
Since I gave the other Iron Man splash (by Sean Chen) in this gallery to my sister (it’s her favorite character), I needed an IM splash of my own. Thank goodness this missed opportunity from the past resurfaced just in time! =)
