Description
Still hunting for a Walt Kelly example of a "dancing girl", but this is certainly a wonderful alternative. Carolyn is Walt Kelly's daughter, and was the last artist to officially draw the "Pogo" newspaper strip for publication. Through Walt's ceaseless efforts, the Kelly family still owns the rights to all the Pogo characters, unlike most syndicate published strips, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get one of her family's classic creations. The choice was fairly easy as well, because even though the strip had dozens (if not hundreds) of recurring characters, I believe there were only 3 or 4 main female leads. And of those, Miz Hepzibah certainly was the sexiest. ;-) Carolyn went above and beyond in getting this done: when she learned that I wasn't going to be able to come back for the second day of the show, she went up to her hotel room and finished inking this before she went out to dinner with her friends that Saturday evening. Thanks Carolyn! Go to www.pogopossum.com to find out more about the strip, and buy the Fantagraphics reprint series!
