Description
This is the original finished pencil piece by Simon Bisley depicting the horror and sorrow of the Crusades. I've been chasing this piece ever since it first came up for sale. Luckily, it landed in a friend's collection who later generously offered it to me. It is easily one of my favorite Bisley pieces, reminding me of some of the old masters (such as Albrecht Durer). In fact, the original commissioner of this piece liked it so much that he later commissioned Greg Staples to do a painted version of the same piece. I consider myself lucky to have gotten my hands on this unpublished Bisley masterpiece and have to thank my good friend, Bruce, for setting this up for me!

This piece is one of my favorite Bisley pencil pieces. I consider it better than a lot of his published pieces. Congrats & thanks for sharing.

ALEX, THIS IS AN ASTONISHING WORK! MAN, WHEN BISLEY GETS INSPIRED, HIS WORK IS TRULY VISIONARY......... HOW LARGE IS THIS PIECE?

It's actually pretty large. 23"x17" - which is actually a little bit bigger than a double page splash.

What a fantastic gallery you have, I've seen museums with lesser quality than the artworks you have :)

We do not discover today that the talent and skill of Bisley are simply outstanding, but it's by watching pieces like this that we can understand how his work is ever more beyond than comic art. Congrats on an exceptional masterwork!
