Back in 2001, after John's last appearance in San Diego, I got on his waiting list for a cover recreation. I worked through his wonderful agent, Owen O'Leary, to get on the list. I really was hoping for a recreation of the Silver Surfer#1 cover. All through the fall I checked in with Owen. "He's working on it, you'll get it" Owen would say. I received a package right after Christmas 2001 from one John Buscema on the return address label. And here it is. Shortly after receiving this package, Big John passed away. I was told this the last thing he drew. I am thankful to have this, as it holds quite a bit of sentimental value to me. I have many more Big John commissions but this one is the most prescious to me.
