Baltimore Comic-Con 2006

Mike was selling pieces from his sketch blog and this one REALLY caught my eye.

I'd always been a huge Beetle and Booster fan and Mike perfectly captured their fun-loving nature(s).

This was done on copy paper and I showed it to Karl Story asking him if he was free to ink it. Karl jumped at the chance saying that he couldn't remember ever inking Mike before.

Later, I showed it to Mike, he put on his glasses, held it up and said he couldn't remember ever being inked by Karl. He asked, "What'd he say about inking the piece?"

I kinda sheepishly replied, "He said you need better paper."

Mike just exhaled and shrugged his shoulders.

Mike was a great, great guy.

Mike wieringo & Karl Story always made a great pairing, not unlike Blue & Gold. Mike fun art is truly missed.
