Shelton Bryant - Robin

Anyone who's been missing Shelton's extraordinary paintings has been missing something quite, quite beautiful, so get over to his gallery at http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=7923 and take a look at them.



But first admire this! Given his many Batman themed paintings, it seemed quite appropriate to ask him for a Robin painting, and he was delighted to take up the challenge, having apparently been wanting to do one for some time. Happy timing or what?



Whilst his Batman work is frequently almost abstract, filled with shadows and textures, as befits a Gothically inclined hero, Robin can't be dealt with in quite the same way, since he embodies motion, and youth and exuberant energy.



His composition here is fantastic, it combines the contradictory facets of Robin being in a grim urban environment, but still being a child, with a brightly colourful costume, and still makes the contrast it's strength.
