Long before WonderCon 2008 rolled around, I was already thinking about a new Arthur Adams piece. Yeah, there had been some nice pieces on ebay, and some stuff offered on CAF, but most (if not all) were a bit out of my price range. So it had been somewhat of a drought for me since my last actual Adams purchase. Two years to be exact. Not counting the Aliens sketch I got in trade last July, I hadn’t BOUGHT myself a new Adams since March of 2006! Yikes!

Anyway, this wonderful cover comes directly from Arthur himself, AND of course, his long time agent and friend John Fanucchi. My thanks to both gentlemen for graciously allowing me to purchase this at the show! I think there was some question as to its availability, since the comic had yet to hit the stands, and there was no price tag on it when I saw it in the portfolio. But John asked Arthur for me, and after some discussion between the two about a price, they kindly agreed to sell it to me. So THANKS GUYS!!!

As to the piece itself, don’t ask me who these guys are! I have no freaking idea! LOL! In talking to Art and John about it, I guess this was an actual ongoing series from Image that was/is about to be re-launched. And neither John nor Art knew what issue number this cover was going to be used for, or if it might end up being some sort of variant. In any case, I don’t have the tiniest clue as to who and/or what these characters are! All I know is that it’s a really cool looking cover with gorgeous linework and all the trademark details I love in an Art Adams piece! I think that the bat that looks like a chicken (or chicken that looks like a bat) in the lower right is probably my favorite! LOL!

Oh, some fun things to do with this piece. You can try counting all the skulls (and believe me, there are A LOT), or just try finding the hidden (or not so hidden) penis, complete with testicles of course! LOL!

Again, my thanks to Arthur and John for ending the long drought! Hope it won’t be another two years until we do this again! =)

(3/3/08) Okay, well, thanks to Michael Khazen and the link in his comment below, I now know more about the Perhapanauts than I ever wanted to! LOL! Anyway, the website DID confirm that this is the cover to the new first issue, so I have made the appropriate changes to the title and updated this description. Thanks Michael!

(5/11/17) A wonderful surprise arrived in the mail today from my best bud Jonathan. A copy of Arthur's MONSTERS ATTACK book that just happens to feature this piece as a pinup on page 33. As well as a couple of other pieces I own.

Somehow, if there were a comic book about accountants, Arthur would find a way to make it look cool. Nice pickup!

I figured it had been awhile since you snagged yourself an Adams piece, Eric, and lo and behold I wasn't wrong. What a way to make up for lost time! :-D

Ah yes, you're latest Art Adams acquisition... quite nice Eric! That tell, tell Adams team shot of characters running at the viewer with the somewhat gargantuan bonus of a full background! SweeeEEETTTT!! Love all the insane detail to this one... and the looming wolves are just too cool! Glad you were finally able to end your Adams drought so powerfully!~:)
