1955 Unpublished Foxhole #5 Cover

This excellent cover was pencilled and inked by Jack "King" Kirby, on illustration board for Simon & Kirby's own Mainline Publications, and was rejected by the newly formed Comics Code Authority as too violent. It was purchased in 1996 in a deal brokered by reknown Kirby historian & publisher Greg Theakson, but stolen not long after, and though we knew who had it, and reported it to police, we had no proof, so we couldn't take action. 10 years later, It appeared on an art dealer's website and was returned through the efforts of my longtime friend, artist and producer, Denys Cowan, who 1st sighted it and negotiated it's return along with pages of his own stolen art ( taken at same time by same person) that the art dealer also had posted on his site, and "graciously" sold back to Denys.
