Description

This Clark panel has a bit of Mauldin "Willie & Joe" feel to it, as one soldier says to the other, "The are still having the same old trouble. Can't get anyone to do the laundry!" He's saying this, of course, while his buddy is washing his shirt in the water.

I love the attitude of Clark's figures, and this is a nice example of that. His standing figure in this panel has such a great structure to the form, but he's delineated in almost a Daumier-like fashion, giving wonderful movement to a static figure.
