MARA

A tribute to:
Gil Elvgreen great pin up artist
Photographer Bruno Bernard
Mara Corday, starlet and model

Years ago I commissioned to my friend-artist YOR a recreation of a famous painting of Gillette,one of the best pin up painter. I called this watercolored pin up "MARA" as homage to the great starlette and model of the 50's Mara Corday.
Gil took as model for his painting a picture of Mara Corday taken by the photographer Bruno Bernard of Hollywood. For some mysterious reason, later Gil took a photo at one of his beautiful model who posed in a similar pose, but the original model was miss Corday
