DescriptionWell, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to throw up anything new. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I haven’t really been able to afford to buy much these days, what with the economy being what it is and the way it’s affected my job (and thus my paycheck). Luckily I’ve been approached with a couple of trade deals since coming back from San Diego, so even though I have no money, I’ve been able to bring in new artwork to add to my collection/gallery.Ever since I first found out that Carlos Pacheco was going to do a run on FF, I always wanted to try and land a nice cover or splash from the book. Ideally, I would’ve preferred a piece featuring a nice group shot or something with a major villain on it. But the bottom line was always to just find a nice, strong, stylistic example by the artist(s). I think this amazing cover to issue #42 pretty much fits that bill. I’m not one for nostalgia, but I love this image of the Torch and Subby going at it. A nice tribute to the Golden Age of comics and all those classic Timely covers from the 1940’s that featured Subby and the original Human Torch. All you need is Captain America to fill out the mighty trio of the original Invaders! Anyway, my thanks to fellow CAF member Tom Benham for a very smooth and pleasant trade. I really appreciated your patience AND especially your trust Tom! Thanks for kicking off my 2009 with two such fabulous pieces! Social/Sharing |

Talk about nostalgia, it has nothing to do with the characters, it has everything to do with seeing a Pacheco piece inked! :) Very cool piece. Even though I didn't collect F4 at the time, this image has always stood out to me.

A great piece by a great artist. I agree with your description completely. Such a historic battle of water v. fire represented by two terrific characters.

Fantastic piece. Maybe it's because I am a Marvel guy but I think the Marvel production of Pacheco is his best! Congratulations!

Thanks Carlo, but you may want to hold that thought until you see the next Pacheco piece I'm getting soon. And no, it's not a Marvel piece! =)
