UPDATE: a fellow collector informed me that this page is not by Enrique Villagran as I (and the dealer I bought this from) thought, but is by Jorge Zaffino. I guess it could be quite worse... ;)

Enrique Villagran is a little-known artist in the States (he only worked on about a couple dozen low-profile books), but he's the man who made -under the scripts of legendary writer Robin Wood- Nippur Of Lagash one of the greatest South-American adventure series ever.

If you have Enrique Villagran art available, please let me know.
It took me many, many years to track down a Nippur Di Lagash page, but I finally made it, and it's an Enrique Villagran no less!

I have a deep attachment for Argentinian comics, and Nippur is definitely at the top of the pile: soldier, king, farmer, adventurer, womanizer, father... a true mensch, if I've ever seen one.

The only bad part of this page is that it made me realize that the Italian collections have been rearranged by cutting panels (and maybe entire pages) in the published pages. Anybody out there interested in publishing an Absolute Nippur?

Questa storia di Nippur non è stata illustrata da Villagran, ma da un'altro artista: Jorge Zaffino. Il suo stile è inconfondile rispetto a Villagran. Sono tutte e due degli ottimi illustrattori, ma Zaffino ha sempre realizzato Nippur de Lagash con una stazza degna di Blek Macigno. L'avventura si intitola "El dia de los fuegos muertos" ed è stata da Robin Wood in collaborazione con Ricardo Ferrari. Accidenti all'Eura che non ha pubblicato le prime avventure di Nippur in Italia! Grazie della precisazione, Marco: in effetti, pur essendo uno Zaffino non ancora al top, presenta alcuni dei suoi tratti peculiari, soprattutto nel pannello finale, molto oscuro e quindi poco "villagraniano".
L'avevo acquistato come Villagran ma di sicuro non mi lamento di questa scoperta, anzi... ora procedo a correggere i dati!
