DescriptionThis Disney Studio designed combat insigne was done for the bomber crew that requested it. There were five B29's and one B17 that carried the same name and unfortunately this writer can not eliminate it down to one specific plane. To my knowledge only Sky Scrapper III survived the war with 35 missions. One was destroyed on the ground by a Japanese air attack at an airbase on Saipan while another was shot down over Osaka, Japan. Unfortunately the Disney Studio does not have records of this insignia, photos of all planes are not available, and it and its crew may have been lost before receiving finalized artwork. It's most interesting to me that this is published in CHARACTER ZU of MILITARY DISNEY STUDIO & ANIMATOR SEISE by Takahashi Nobuyuki, Japan, 2015, page 87, 197 and 267 without any information that i can translate.Social/Sharing |
