DescriptionThis is the July 12, 1956 Archie daily by Archie's creator, Bob Montana. Though I don't think Montana's role was explicitly acknowledged in the comics, his name was attached to the strips long after his death. This is an example of the Archie style before Dan DeCarlo came along. What makes this particular piece unusual is that it is signed off to the side in both Montana's name and his generally uncredited assistant, which I guess is "Foofie Harding". I was unable to find anything about Foofie and every variation on that name on the net. Most likely, this was given to a fan, probably by Harding.I have no idea what roles Harding and Montana actually played in creating this. Given Harding's total obscurity, I imagine he had the traditional role of doing the backgrounds while Montana did the characters. I'm crediting them both as inkers. Social/Sharing |
