This is one of those pieces that I never expected the artist involved to part with. In regard to this particular piece, well, I'm a big MS. TREE fan, and I just couldn't imagine Terry Beatty parting with the first cover that he did for the character. The cover does not have it's logo, or several other statted text areas, but the stat of the Frank Miller drawing of Mickey Spillane's MIKE HAMMER shows more of the artwork than was shown on the printed cover.
The title for the first few issues was actually MS. TREE'S THRILLING DETECTIVE ADVENTURES.
I wrote to Terry after he had agreed to sell the cover saying, "Thanks for the opportunity to have some more examples of your art – especially those related to my favourite character of yours – Ms. Tree. It seems kind of hard to believe that I will have custody of the cover to #1 – I kind of figured that one would stay with you forever, unless you had sold it long ago...!" to which Terry replied, "I didn't think I'd ever be selling that #1 cover either -- but circumstances change. And it wasn't on the wall -- just taking up space in the art file -- so really, better it go to a collection where it has a chance of being seen." I thank Terry for allowing me to be the person he's entrusted the artwork to!
