Description

In my opinon, Mr. Mike Royer has been one of the best inker of Jack Kirby. Very simple, dynamic, and respectful of the original drawings (have you ever seen a pencil original by Jack Kirby? I saw just a couple, and I was stunned to see how incredibly detailed they were).

This page is a proof of the great professionalism and effort that Kirby put in every production. The first panel is great, those soldiers seems to come out from some soviet poster of the 50's.

I didn't know the comic series "2001: A Space Odissey" (spin off from the comic reduction of the Kubrik's movie) until I got the page, and I have to admit that the story is great, too (which shouldn't be a surprise, since we are talking about the brains of Clarke, Kubrik and Kirby collectively working and reworking on the same plot, one after the other). Machine Man was created during this series, and in this particular story he's looking for no less than his human face.

This page has been drawn AND written by Jack Kirby: this is definitely a plus for me, as I believe it was definitely a plus for him.

Wonderful page indeed! Every single panel is worth the admission fee! There will come a time when collectors will kick and kick and kick themselves for not buying '70s Kirby artwork when it was still cheap. Runs like '2001' and 'Captain Victory' are among his very best work ever! Viva il re!

Very good page. 2001 in particular was a rich vein of later Kirby. Panel 1 is extraordinary and so is panel 3.

I take a more mixed view of Kirby's 70s work, but of the books he did after he returned to Marvel, 2001 was my favorite. And while I liked the superheroics of his Machine Man spin-off, I found the harder SF elements in this version far more interesting.

I love the 6-panel-grid Kirby work from the '70's and this one is a beauty. Wish I had bought more when they were cheap!

Congrads! Very cool pg & character. I was a big Kirby fansince I was a wee lad in 1968. As well as a big robot fan, Machine Man was a great character. If for any reason u ever decide to sell these pg let me know. I'd love to see a Machine Man & Eternals movies one day!
