Back in the '60's the Australian comic book industry was destroyed because of the mass bumping of American comics here...Marvel was everywhere and locally producd comic books were gone...but while I have bitter sweet memorers of that time I remember picking up the Gold Key comic that had this cover and I loved it...it's not the best cover they ever did but it still is a fantasic drawing...it was reprinted here for over two decades, all the art inside was shown in black and white...just a great comic cover for sure.

I'd missed seeing this in your collection until today. When I was very young, having seen the Irwin Allen TV show, I talked my dad into buying one of the earlier comics in this series off the stands and, after I got it home, I remember being mostly disappointed there was no robot. Later, when I was older, I rediscovered the issue in the chest where I kept my comics and, to my delight, found the comic read much better than I remembered. From then, my appreciation of Spiegle's art and his distinctive style has continued to grow.
