DescriptionI agree there is a lot going on in this commish: it is the crossover that you are likely not going to see this year but it was fun to think about it. What if the Legion of Super-Pets were conducting Try-Outs (much in the same tradition as their humanonid counterparts) but were crashed by the different emotional spectrum lanterns that you know in Blackest Night??? What rings would take over what pets?I tried to think of every animal in the DC universe that was a superhero and tried to match them up with a lantern. To even it up, I put my own dog whose name is Beppo (Aka Beppo II) as one of the candidates (he is my real super-pet). The Roll Call by pairs from left to right: -- Comet the Super horse and Jumpa, the Wonder Kanga as Star Sapphires, daydreaming about their loves (Comet after Supergirl which is part of continuity and Jumpa after Krypto, in the same vein as Superboy loves Wonder Girl) --Krypto overlooking the chaos and not taken over by a ring whereas you have Ace the BatHound resisting the Sinestro ring (much like Bats did) --Topo, Aquaman's octopus, as an Orange Lantern (he was a notorious pick pocket so avarice was perfect) battling the Cetacean Green Lantern from 2024 that you see in the Last Days of Animal Man. -- Gleek, the Wonder Twins monkey, meditating with Beppo, both taken over as Indigo Lanterns. -- It's a Catfight between Streaky (who is an Orange Lantern) vs Dex-starr who is an evil Red Lantern. --Centerstage is my dog whose name is Beppo and since he is Beppo II--He is two things--He is really Proty II disguised as my poodle and a Blue Lantern (in real life he wears a blue collar and since he is my new pup--Hope just fit) and He is fighting a zombie squirrel from the Black Lantern Corps-Ch'p !!! (in real life my pup goes crazy for squirrels) Whew !!! Like I said, I probably had too much time on my hands thinking about it.... At the end, I thought about adding rabbits...but I resisted the urge (Abby, Zatanna's pet and the Marvel Bunny). Thanks so much to Agnes for putting all this fun crazy stuff to paper...I know it was a challenge but it was a fun one....and of course, I bought up as many of her Super-Pet stickers for myself and my patients from the con. There are four little background animals that Agnes and I added...I put this to you....Who are they? a set of dogs and a set of monkeys.... Long Live the Legion of Super-Pets (they need their own book) !!! Social/Sharing |

There is so much that I love about this piece. I especially like the meditating monkeys.I have never seen either Beppo or Gleek so calm. Are the two background dogs Rex the Wonder Dog and Wonder Dog from the Super Friends (or his later version in Teen Titans)? One of the monkeys is apparently Detective Chimp (love his outfit). My guess for the other is Martian Manhunter's sidekick Zook.
