Description

Frank was still unsure of a direction on the very touchy subject of an Alien Crucifixion that was commissioned by The National Lampoon for a cover... he said that early versions were too close to Jesus on the Cross, and he didn't want to offend, nor did he want to look too much like the traditional Passion of the Christ, but more alien, more foreign. These are early prelims that were clearly "too close." Ellie never did like the finished version, one of the few pieces of her husbands she was offended by. I am a Christian, and I find it a beautiful and fascinating document and piece of art.

Thanks for sharing these, Rob. I think the finished version is more "alien" by virtue of the additional arms.
