DescriptionWatchmen's Dollar Bill done by living legend George Perez. I know, I know... you're thinking 'why waste a perfectly good George Perez commission on such a second -heck; fifth, twelfth, sixty-eighth- rated character as Dollar Bill; a character featured on one page only and doesn't even speak a single word in the entire comic of Watchmen?' Well, I'll tell you why; 'cause I knew he'd do a great job and knock it out of the park... and he did!I knew George's rendition of Dollar Bill would perfectly depict everything that the character is and stand for; the noble (super)hero of days long-gone; the man who only wanted to do good; the protector of the innocent and the dream of a perfect, peaceful, world... and protector of YOUR money! Well, that's what the PR-group wanted anyway, while poor Bill himself was naive and probably didn't have the first clue what he was getting himself into. May he rest in peace and forever be a reminder as to why heroes shouldn't wear capes... Many thanks to George Perez, Spencer Beck and Tatiana Dykes for helping me get this. ... and a MASSIVE fist in the face to the Swedish customs who charged me $100 for its release when it arrived, AND having manhandled the art upon inspection, resulting in several dents and creases on the art-board that will never go away, no matter how much weight I put on it and how long I'll store it flat. This in spite of it being shipped with a massive plywood for protection and a huge note proclaiming "FRAGILE! HANDLE WITH CARE! PLEASE DO NOT FOLD OR BEND!" Dicks... Update March '10; Thanks to the skills of paper conservator Anna Celander the piece has been restored to almost perfect condition again. Thank goodness for people like this. Now just to figure out who to send the bill to (although I'll probably end up having to suck it up and and face the music; no-one's going to reimburse me). Social/Sharing |

You're very welcome, I'm glad you finally got the piece. So sorry to hear about customs, that really sucks. Guess you could always just move to the states ;P

Congrats for this great piece. To bad that the customs treat the properties of other people without respect. That´s a shame.

Oh please, I love getting commissions of twenty-sixth rate characters. It gives people a chance to remember who they are and it's probably a breath of fresh air to the artist.
