Description

Karate Kid vs. Nightcrawler by Darick Robertson, John Livesay and Simon Gough

I first saw Darick's art in Wolverine #54 and I really liked it. And then he took over New Warriors and I began to love it. I've since followed him on tons of other books, like Transmetropolitan, Wolverine, The Boys, etc. But it was his run on Nightcrawler that is probably my favorite. Kurt Wagner is one of Darick's favorite characters, and it showed in his work on that title. So, when I met Darick at the 2010 NOLA Comic-Con, it was obvious who I'd ask him to draw in this "Karate Kid vs." commission. Darick drew it at the convention, and did a spectacular job. Also, he's a really cool guy and I had fun talking to him. Years later, I sent this off to John Livesay to add some inks, and John did a stellar job. I believe this was his first time inking Darick, but it definitely shouldn't be his last. Then I sent it off to my favorite colorist, the one and only Mr. Simon Gough, and he colored the heck out of it! I love the pink to purple background, and Kurt and Val have rarely looked better. Big thanks to all three artists for their incredible work!

How do I see this fight going? Well, Kurt would surprise Val at first with his teleporting ability, and Val would be on the defensive. But Val Armorr's reactions are so quick that I still think he would be able to block most of Kurt's blows and eventually Val would connect with some quick strikes of his own. After a tough fight, Mr. Wagner goes down.

I like this one, though I must disagree I think Kurt would just port him off a building or something if he was mad enough... ok maybe he would port him onto a flag pole and leave him there =)
