Description

At the 2010 Pittsburgh Comcion, we had the opportunity to meet comic book legend Joe Sinnott. What a wonderful man! He's quite talkative and friendly, and very much like your Grandpa. He had several portfolios with head sketches in them of several different characters and when we saw this one of Flash Gordon, we couldn't pass it up! This is an 8.5x11 pencil drawing that Joe did in 2001.

In another realm of the arts, Picasso said of Marc Chagall that "he has an angel in his head." Of all the comic artists I've liked over the years, only two make me think of that phrase because of their noble and beautiful portrayals of heroes and heroines, and one of those artists is Joe Sinnott. (The other is Murphy Anderson.) Everything Joe inks or draws comes from a place where quality matters, and talent reigns. Great sketch!

Just gorgeous! Joe still "has it". Pencil, Ink, it's all magic in his hands. Great piece.
