Description

For some reason I fell in love with this creature when I first read Abe Sapien: Drums of the Dead years ago. He was designed by the series illustrator, Derek Thompson, an artist who has since moved away from comics and into movie design work (most notably for Pixar). I was able to track him down recently at SDCC and he was gracious enough to create this gorgeous commission. Thanks, Derek!

Very nice commission, and a great story. It is always good to hear that even after an artist moves to "bigger and better" things, they don't forget their roots, bravo!

Thanks, Maria! Yeah, I ran across Derek almost by accident at SDCC a few years back, reminded him of the story and character, and he was happy to revisit it for the commish. Very nice guy and a helluva an illustrator.
